Recap on FT. Article: Pop-up developments boost Moscow’s property market

A very interesting article appeared recently in the Financial Times (FT.com), about how in Moscow they are using the presence of pop-up art galleries and museums in building to enough "chic" to sell high end condos.

Per the article, written by Gisela Williams:

"From the taxi, glowing in the Moscow skyline, there is a light in the darkness: the words Door 19 written large in neon on the top of a five-storey brick compound. At a two-building complex still under construction, visitors give their names to the first of two bulky doormen. Ushered into an elevator, they are taken to the top floor where they are confronted by a strange human-like sculpture with the face of a weasel. Eventually, they enter a sprawling industrial-style penthouse with stunning views of the city. The brick walls are covered in graffiti sprayed by one of the city’s best-known street artists, Zhenya Ozzik, and the room showcases an eclectic mix of industrial chandeliers and vintage furniture.
Over the past two months, many of Moscow’s oligarchs, art collectors and curious food lovers have filled this soaring loft to eat at Door 19, a pop-up dinner series. Each week a different pair of international star chefs, from Paco Morales to Sebastian Mazzola, took over the kitchen and served four courses each. Award-winning mixologists, many from London, served speciality cocktails.
Door 19 was not just a successful pop-up restaurant and the man behind the project is not a restaurateur but a real estate developer. Andrey Grinev owns the sprawling top-floor loft in which the temporary restaurant took place, a high-end apartment on the market for $25m."

About Corinne Rice

Corinne Rice graduated from Matthew Kenney Academy, deemed one of the best raw culinary schools in the world. She started Chartreuse- a traveling, raw-vegan restaurant in February of 2012. With Chartreuse, she popped up all over the city of Detroit at art galleries, historical buildings, and urban farms. The dinners featured local artists and live music, and the menus (all four course, organic, mostly heirloom, and soy and gluten free) were all different and completely based around what produce was available from urban farms within Detroit's city limits. In Detroit, Corinne is a local celebrity. She has prepared six-course meals for up to 75 people at a time and was the executive chef for David "Avocado" Wolf's birthday dinner in 2011. During the spring of 2013, Rice relocated to Venice, CA, where she started ZOETIC, a spin-off of Chartreuse.

In the kitchen, Corinne prepares organic, plant-based fare with a focus on sourcing locally and creating seasonal dishes. She uses only the finest quality ingredients that are gluten- and soy-free, and whenever possible she uses heirloom varieties. She believes in taking care of our bodies now, by nourishing them with the foods and herbs they need, so that each and every body will be able to live a long, healthy life- one that is filled with joy and happiness.

Bloom Restaurant
5410 17th Ave Nw, Seattle, WA

Description (per Organizer):
Pop-up restaurants make a debut at some local establishments. These one-night-stand restaurants take the cuisine in a decidedly different direction than what you usually would find at the address. The plating is less fussy, the cooking more like your grandma's.

Our very own event organizer Olive also happens to be a very talented chef, as some members have tasted her wonderful dishes during many potluck meals. Her style of cuisine is modern International with an Asian twist. Recently, she decided to further develop her culinary passion from "CookingDolls":  a private chef service and invitation only Dining Club.  And now we're pleased to announce that she is hosting her first ever pop-up dinner event!
